Euler’s constant

Euler’s constant γ is defined by

γ=limn(1+12+13+14++1n-lnn)

or equivalently

γ=limni=1n[1i-ln(1+1i)]

Euler’s constant has the value

0.57721566490153286060651209008240243104

It is related to the gamma functionDlmfDlmfMathworldPlanetmath by

γ=-Γ(1)

It is not known whether γ is rational or irrational.
