I am pretty sure that the absolute value bars are incorrect. (That is, it should read: "It is defined for $x \geqq 1$.") For example, if you plug in -1, you get arcosh(-1)=ln(-1). Also, for all real x, cosh(x) is at least 1, so it makes sense that its inverse is only defined for real numbers at least as large as 1.
